New Collection of Poetry for CCE Writing Tutor
Caroline Lark is a poet, playwright, prize-winning fiction writer and artist.
She was the winner of the Hazard Press Quote Unquote short fiction award in 1995 with her novella Days. Her radio plays have been broadcast by Radio NZ and she has written three stage plays, the latest Eros, produced by Christchurch's Court Theatre in 2010. There have been six exhibitions of her paintings and prints in England and New Zealand
Caroline’s new collection of poetry, A Messy Affair, published by Steele Roberts, has just been launched at the Waiheke Book Festival 2011. Wine, strawberries, French crepes and music were served with an exciting mix of words and art at the Barn, the Waiheke Artist in Residence studio, displaying works by Euan Macleod and Gregory O’Brien.
After the launch of Caroline’s book, there were readings by Wellington poets, Jenny Bornholdt and Gregory O’Brien as well as by local Waiheke poets, Pita Rikys, John Newton and Sue Fitchett.
Caroline was born in London and graduated in Fine Arts, Psychology and Philosophy of Education from Cambridge in 1988. Her poetry is widely published in the UK and New Zealand and has appeared in literary journals in Australia and France. Her work is collected in the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Poetry Library, London, and on the Aotearoa New Zealand Poetry Sound Archive, Alexander Turnbull Library, Wellington.
Caroline is now based in Dunedin where she runs creative writing courses for Otago University. This summer CCE is delighted that Caroline will be teaching a five-day workshop as part of the Summer Affair programme in January.
