Jo Davies and Libby Passau accepted the UCEA
awards for Outstanding Program (Non-credit), and
exemplary Programme Award (Conferences and
Professional Programmes).

Award: Outstanding Program – Non credit Award

Organisation: University Continuing Education Association

The Making Good Decisions Re-certification Programme for Resource Management Act Decision Makers which CCE delivers under licence to the Ministry for the Environment won the Outstanding Program – Non-credit award. Libby Passau who manages the programme accepted the award on the behalf of CCE and the Ministry for the Environment. In thanking UCEA for the award Libby said, ‘This programme is an excellent example of a collaborative partnership between a government agency, the Ministry for the Environment; a research led university, The University of Auckland and the community in the form of resource management practitioners and local, regional and district councillors.”

Award: Exemplary Program Award

Organisation: University Continuing Education Association

The Australasian Conference on Obesity, managed by John Walker, received an exemplary Programme Award, Conferences and Professional Programmes. The conference was developed by CCE in association with academic staff from The University of Auckland and other institutions. The event achieved its aim of disseminating current research and best practice, enabling health practitioners to better understand the dynamics and intricacies of this growing global epidemic.

Award: Interactive Marketing: Web site (Under 25,000)

Organisation: University Continuing Education Association

Richard Harvey’s application for the Centre’s website upgrade was successful in winning a Gold Award for Interactive Marketing: Web Site (under 25,000).This project was part of a University-wide process involving the University Web team, Group Applications and Communications and Marketing. Within the larger project, CCE performed all Centre-related research, made all strategic decisions, produced key documents, and created all content.

Award: Highly Commended Award

Organisation: Emerald Literati Network

Every year Emerald invites each journal’s Editorial Team to nominate what they believe has been that title’s Outstanding Paper and up to three Highly Commended Papers from the previous 12 months. Susan Geertshuis’s paper entitled “Improving decision making for sustainability: a case study from New Zealand” published in International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education was chosen as a Highly Commended Paper at the Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2010.

Award: Excellence in Programming

Organisation: Learning Resources Network (LERN)

CCE’s 2009 Winter Week on Campus programme won an award for programming from LERN, an organization that recognizes excellence in lifelong learning. Winter Week organized by Joanna Davies is designed to make accessible to the wider community the current research of The University of Auckland. It is a unique, week-long programme which features morning and afternoon lectures by distinguished University of Auckland staff, chosen for both their subject expertise and passion for teaching adult students.
