BEANZ BioLive Conference 2011
In July 2011, the CCE Conference Management team managed the biennial BEANZ Biolive Conference.
Developed for biology educators from around New Zealand, the conference explored how teachers can foster an understanding and appreciation of ‘Biology for Life’ for all students – whether in primary, secondary or tertiary education.
The delegates, representing both state and private schools, universities and tertiary institutions, were based at the beautiful Auckland Grammar School campus affording outstanding views of Auckland harbour.
Always looking to improve on previous conference materials, the conference team developed a tailored A5 handbook to assist in the session choices made throughout the conference. As well as reducing the use of paper, this new layout also provided the delegates with a lighter more compact guide to the conference.
Using the CCE Conference Management team’s creative edge the presentation sessions were augmented with hands on learning workshops and discussions to best utilise the beautiful space provided.
Extending the group dynamic into the evenings, local establishments such as the Horse and Trap were booked exclusively for delegates to enjoy refreshments and a meal.
A more relaxed time with guest speakers at the Café Scientifique, the European concept of discussing the latest ideas in science and technology, enjoyed with wine and cheese was a popular addition to the programme.
