Financial assistance

Some students are eligible to have their fees paid by Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ). Please contact your WINZ Case Manager. Once you have seen the Case Manager please contact a New Start Programme Manager for an appointment.

If you enrol in a New Start course you will not be eligible for a student loan or allowance.

New Start offers financial assistance with fees to assist potential students who wish to enrol in New Start at The University of Auckland. Applications are available from the Student Information Centre. Awards are given out before the start of each semester. Semester Two 2011 applications are now closed. For Semester One 2012 applications, the closing deadline is 30 January 2012.

These Bursaries were established in 2009 and are funded by The University of Auckland Faculty of Arts. The Bursaries intend to encourage Ngāti Whātua O Ōrakei students to complete the New Start programme with the intention of studying for a BA in The Faculty of Arts. Applications can be made to The University of Auckland Scholarships Office on 30 November in the year preceeding the year of the award.

A fee assistance scheme was established in 2009 and is funded by New Start, Centre for Continuing Education. There are a limited number of places offered to students who intend to enrol in New Start General or New Start for Business. Students who apply for this scheme may be required to provide administration assistance during the semester programme. Application forms are available from the New Start Programme Manager.

The award application form and New Start course enrolment form must be completed at the same time and submitted through one of the following options:
